Chocolate Toffee Almond Shortbread Bars

I made these bars according to the directions and was disappointed when all the little chocolate ships started melting on the hot crust, so that when I used a spatula to even it out over the crust I just got smears of chocolate instead of chips. Next time I’m using full sized chips so hopefully there will be some of the “chip” left.

A thick shortbread bar covered in a gooey topping filled with chocolate, toffee, and almonds!

Total Time : 45 minutes
Yield : 24 bars

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup unsalted butter softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
3/4 cup chopped Blue Diamond almonds divided
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 can 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup toffee bits
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
